The Community
Due to the fact that All Saints is placed in an area with very few housing, most of our missional work is done via other means, such as schools, local authorities, universities and retail outlets.
Weekly teaching by Fr Glyn is timetabled for Archibald and Ayresome Primary Schools. As well as usual weekly assemblies, teaching slots on Fridays focus on the 'Godly Play' initiative, and thus encourages children to answer and ask their own theological questions following a biblical story with hands-on and visual experience.
The schools in the community visit All Saints annually for a tour of the Church, including a brief history of the ceremonial used at All Saints, and a 'dress-up' session to allow the children to see for themselves the vestments worn, and the reason for doing so.
All Saints also plays an important role in the life of the Nursing and Residential Homes that can be found in the parish. Weekly communion visits ensure that the residents can have a chat with a member of the clergy, be encouraged to pray together, and to receive the sacraments.
